JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is within the Fisher BioServices business unit and is responsible for the receipt, inventory, storage and shipping of clinical agents or biological specimens to various clinical sites and/or laboratories. This position uses database applications and standard precautionary procedures to work independently, be self-directed, communicate effectively, and use good judgment when making decisions. Internal or external client interaction occurs under the mentorship of experienced professional or technical staff.
EDUCATION:
Requires an AA degree preferably in a science related field but not required.
EXPERIENCE:
Prefer 3+ years work experience with data entry, shipping/receiving, sample management.
Proven track record to consistently and independently follow policies and procedures, instructions, and to meet schedules required.
Need basic digital literacy to navigate inventory systems, Microsoft Office, and shipping software in order to support the operation in its daily functions.
Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form.
Prefer knowledge of Universal Precautions, general laboratory, and quality assurance/control.

Requires clear speaking voice and good interpersonal skills.

Ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
Must be ready to start work timely daily and maintain strong attendance performance. Ability to follow general instruction on routine work and detailed instruction on new projects to complete assigned tasks. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position; errors in work could cause delays in schedules. Training will be provided through one-on-one instruction, on-the-job training (OJT), Thermo Fisher Scientific generated Standard Training Protocol (STP) and/or other training documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and accurately process items for storage and/or shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.
- Sustain a high level of quality to ensure customers receive accurate product and in the time requested.
- Assist in receiving biological specimens, clinical agents, chemical compounds, and/or Investigational products.
- Verify the quality, type and quantity of materials received are accurate and that the appropriate documentation is present (e.g. packing list).
- Work in a warehouse environment under various temperatures ranging from ambient to -196°C.
- Assures compliance to cGMP parts 210 and 211 and company quality systems.
- Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs), facility safety guidelines, and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) requirements which may include compliance with cGMP CFR parts 210 and 211 where applicable.
- Weigh dry chemical compounds
- Aliquot liquid biological samples or products. Perform general documentation management (i.e. generate, review, archive, or destroy).
- Places Purchase Orders and follows up on outstanding invoices.
- Performs Expense Coding on invoices and performs data entry for cost tracking systems.
- Completes purchase orders, contacts vendors to order’s supplies, processes invoices, and prepares voucher.
- Provides administrative support to all core staff, including, but not limited to reception duties, data entry, word processing and formatting, spreadsheet management, and filing.
- Assists in setting up and maintaining study filing systems and maintains accurate records for all work undertaken.
- Provides back-up support to the Project manager.
