Description:

An exciting opportunity is now available within Jessop Wing, Maternity Unit for a Project Support Officer (12-month fixed term) to join the Obstetric, Gynaecology, Neonatal,(OGN), Care Group, working with the Project Manager in a key quality and improvement role.
You will work with individual Maternity and Neonatal teams to provide administrative support for service improvement initiatives across the Directorate and contribute to the delivery of national quality and safety schemes such as Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS) and Saving Babies Lives v3. This role will include high level coordination across the range improvement work within OGN; advanced analysis of data from a range or sources; and supporting with the design and development of resources.
Assisting the Project Manager and Quadrumvirate on all aspects of the operational function of quality and service improvement projects across the directorate to provide effective delivery of the program of work.
Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding updates, interventions, sessions, and events.
Deliver advanced analytical skills in the support of improvement or project work, including the ability to use excel to a high level, produce run charts, statistical process charts, and other statistical techniques with data from a range of sources.
Work with organisational systems (e.g. electronic patient record) to collate, analyse and present complex information/data.
Attend Project Management short course to gain insight into project management, documentation and different approaches to able projects to return successful and long standing outcomes.

The Jessop Wing is a purpose-built maternity unit where approximately 5,700 babies are born every year. It is a single site maternity unit part of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STH). The maternity unit is located alongside the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and forms one care group comprising Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology.
In addition to a 22-bed labour ward, there are 3 postnatal wards and 1 antenatal ward, an admission Triage area, and a High Dependency Unit. One of the postnatal wards specialises in caring for women who have had a caesarean section. The Jessop Wing Community Midwifery Service attend approximately 200 homebirths per year.
The Jessop Wing provides neonatal intensive care and special care for sick and premature babies born in Sheffield and those transferred from other units who require this expertise.
On the ground floor is the Antenatal Clinic and Gynaecology Outpatient Clinic. The Gynaecology Service also includes a ward on G Floor of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
The Jessop Wing also has an Assisted Conception Unit for women who require this specialist treatment.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 12 months due to the post being externally funded. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust’s legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.
