Description:
Location: Kilkenny and South Tipperary
Contract: 2 year fixed-term, full-time
Starting Salary €36,687 - €39,856.49 DOE
This role offers a unique opportunity to be an integral part of our compassionate Aftercare Team, dedicated to providing essential care and unwavering support to young individuals transitioning out of the care system. You’ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding those most vulnerable to homelessness, ensuring they receive the guidance and assistance they need to thrive as they embark on their journey towards independence.
REQUIREMENTS:
Extensive, relevant work experience working with young people in care or marginalised young people.
Third Level Qualification at degree level in social care or related field.
Experience of key-working clients or individual case-work.
Experience of managing challenging behaviour.
Full Clean drivers license and an access to own transport.
Good understanding of the issues affecting young people leaving care and in aftercare.
Flexibility where needed.
Understanding of Child Protection.
Responsibilities:
Crafting personalised care plans within the framework of Focus Ireland’s overarching goals, tailored to empower each resident toward independent living through the Housing First for Youth Model.
Providing holistic support that addresses practical self-care needs, health, budgeting, education, training, and domestic skills, fostering the growth of confidence and self-esteem in young individuals.
Serving as a dedicated advocate for residents, ensuring their access to housing, social services, welfare benefits, education, training, and legal rights.
Collaborating with external agencies and making referrals as necessary to ensure comprehensive support for residents.
Prioritising Health, Safety, and Welfare concerns in the workplace, promptly reporting any issues to supervisors.
Active participation in team, divisional, and agency meetings, contributing insights and updates on resident cases.
Engaging in supervision sessions with team leaders to enhance professional development and support.
Collaborating closely with other Focus Ireland projects, particularly Focus Housing, to maximise impact and support across initiatives.
