Description:

Responsible for daily accounting and property accounting activities for buildings and scattered site units. Responsible for completing all tenant rent certifications and rent collection activities. Works directly with clients, case managers, housing staff and finance team members.

B.A. degree or equivalent experience in accounting or related field.

  • 1-3 years of experience with basic accounting practice.
  • Must be proficient with YARDI and MS Office.
  • Must be proficient in excel.
  • Property Accounting experience, including buildings and scattered site units.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, well organized, self-motivated.
  • Strong multitask skills and ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail, systems and numeracy focused skills.
  • Problem solving skills, pro-active and initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Non-for-Profit accounting experience

Responsibilities:

  • Complete all components of the client income certification process for new clients, relocations and annual renewals in alignment with HOW policies and procedures and funder regulations.
  • Update client rent calculations and ledgers in Yardi in a timely manner, and upload all back up documentation.
  • Record and prepare all deposits of rental income and client copayments.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc charge batches for client rent.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc AP batches for utility allowance.
  • Distribute all notices to clients related to rent calculations including annual reminders, statements, payment plan updates and utility allowances.
  • Respond to client questions regarding payments, and work with clients to develop payment plans when needed; work with Case Managers as needed to support clients in completing certifications and paying rent timely.
  • Create and distribute monthly financial statements, compliance reports and other financials reports as requested by leadership and the Asset Management department.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing use of Yardi RentCafe.
  • Review monthly rent rolls, back up documentation and Yardi set up for units and prepare monthly AP batches for rental payments to landlords.
  • Review documentation and Yardi set up for all new units, and prepare AP payments.
  • Work in coordination with Asset Management Department to assure compliance with funder guidelines.
  • Complete all security deposit accounting, assure close out of all deposits when there is a transition or close out of units, and maintain all required documentation.
  • Work in partnership with Bookkeeper to prepare annual 1099 filings.
  • Reviewing and maintaining components of client records in Salesforce.
  • Monitoring and Reconciliation for accounting and property management activity
  • Work in partnership with Asset Management Department to assure accurate records in Yardi including setting up new properties, entering new clients, relocating clients between properties, exiting clients, closing properties, entering new landlords and verifying W-9 information.
  • Meet all accounting government standards and requirements.
  • Participate in audit preparations.
  • Involvement in continuous improvement and system enhancement projects.
  • Completely monthly bank reconciliations as assigned.
