Description:
Our client is a Property Management company based in Toronto.
They are seeking a highly capable Property Accountant. Contract (2-3 months). Potential for permanent hire.
Location: Toronto Canada (Headquarters)
JOB SUMMARY:
Working closely with the VP of Finance and General Manager, the Property Accountant serves as the subject matter expert of the managed properties, who provides insights and timely financial information to the Operations Team.
The role will be responsible for the full accounting cycle of retirement residence. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis for the property accounting portfolio
- Review and prepare monthly journal accounting entries
- Review and prepare monthly account analysis of assets, liabilities and P& L accounts
- Prepare, review and assist in coordination of annual budget and quarterly forecasts
- Responsible for all property accounting duties
- Responsible for annual budgets
- Providing value-added analysis and insights for the property
- Review agreements, checking to ensure that all definitions and Rent calculations are correct and enter lease information
- Create monthly resident statements, post residents’ cheques, miscellaneous charges
- Prepare monthly reporting packages for management review including but not limited to: Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Variance Analysis and Account Reconciliations
- Review system generated journal entries at month-end for accuracy and trends
- Other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA designation or at final stages
- Proficiency with Yardi Voyager and Excel, experience in Power BI an asset
- 3-5 years of experience in full cycle Real Estate accounting and experience, health care & /or retirement sector is preferred
- Strong analytical and accounting skills with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, combined with an approachable manner
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
