ABOUT YOU

Whilst it is important that the person we recruit has a building construction and maintenance background, it is vital that the right person has good project management experience.
This a career graded role depending on experience and qualifications however, as a minimum we would expect you to have obtained or be working towards a relevant building construction qualification with a good working knowledge of building trades, construction, maintenance, contract management and health & safety.
You should be able to demonstrate your project management skills that will allow you to support Senior Officers with the delivery of capital projects. We would expect you to have an understanding of the planning process and procurement policies with the added ability to interpret laws and procedures.
Political awareness is important in this role as is tact, diplomacy and a customer orientated approach. Above all we want our employees to have a sense of pride and the determination to do a good job.

Responsibilities:

Do you have a project management and building construction and maintenance background? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our Property team and help deliver major capital projects in the borough including new Community and Leisure buildings and Council Housing.

The Property team are currently involved in the following exciting projects and activities.

  • Construction of a new sheltered housing site containing 60 flats.
  • Construction of Fareham Live, a new arts and entertainment venue with an 800-seat main auditorium.
  • Demolition of a large town centre multi storey car park, clearance of the site and the construction of a new surface car park.
  • Construction of a block of seven flats for shared ownership.
  • Delivery of infrastructure upgrades at circa £5.5m at Solent Airport.
  • Ensuring compliance of the council property portfolio for example fire safety and water quality.
  • Production and delivery of long-term Asset Management Plan for Council’s operational buildings.
