At the Science Museum Group (SMG), the Fundraising and Partnerships team fundraises for an array of exciting projects and activities across our museums.
You will be joining a team with a strong track record of securing donations from a variety of supporters including visitors, philanthropic individuals, corporate supporters, charitable foundations and government. In a typical year, about 25% of SMG’s total income comes from fundraising, providing vital funding for the redevelopment of museum buildings, new exhibitions, festivals, learning programmes and accessibility.
From a range of professional backgrounds, the department prides itself on its culture of collaboration and success in researching, planning and building relationships with funders. We work with supporters who are just as passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators as we are. Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Prospect Research team within Fundraising and Partnerships department are offering an apprenticeship opportunity that we are welcoming a range of interest in! This position will offer a dynamic blend of analytical exploration, strategic planning, and creativity.
Keen to support your introduction to the world of Reserarch, Fundraising or a range of office-based skills, not only will you gain a formal qualification, but you will also be encouraged to make the role your own – you will get as much out of it as you put in.
During the course of a day, you might:
- Assist the team with research tasks to help the organisation to make informed decisions and foster meaningful connections
- Input vital data onto our CRM database and check that all data is accurate
- Identify possible donors who could donate money for a new gallery space
- Write biographies for an upcoming event
- Sit in on meetings with fundraisers
- Help with the administration of team meetings, for example putting together an agenda
You’ll learn the fundamentals or build upon valuable administrative skills whilst working in a Data focussed team. You will also learn skills and gain experience that could also be suitable for other careers in project management, exhibitions, events, communications or corporate services
The apprenticeship will be a 21-month contract, which will be full time (35 hours per week) inclusive of training time.
