JOB DESCRIPTION:

The position is within Aerostack GmbH, a Joint Venture between Airbus and an automotive company, part of the Airbus strategy to accelerate Zero Emission Aircraft development and build competences and skills in the technology domain.
In order to support our Team in Taufkirchen/ Ottobrunn, a vacancy for a Prototype Manager (d/f/m) has arisen at Aerostack GmbH.

Main Tasks and Accountabilities:

  • Responsible to coordinate and lead the planning and set-up of a prototype shop and its integration in an Airbus site
  • Select and hire staff for the prototype shop according to the overall planning
  • Lead the prototype team to carry out the preparation of activities
  • Manage the contribution of the prototype team to the development and Certification activities in close collaboration with the design department
  • Create and release the working instructions for the prototype shop, such as control plan, prototype report, testing report, etc.
  • Scheduling of prototype orders
  • Responsible for organization and completion of fixtures/jigs, tooling, or outsourced manufacturing
  • Responsible for the financial and scheduling of prototype assembly.
  • Responsible for the sample quality information, technical note, technical improvement, and its communication into the team
  • Analysis of any abnormalities that occur during assembly in collaboration with experts. Participate in defining remedial measures and coordinating their implementation.
  • Initiation of procurement in purchasing and logistics.
  • Determination of external suppliers in collaboration with purchasing.

Required Skills:

  • Degree in aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a similar field, along with several years of professional experience that includes solid product and process knowledge.
  • At least 5 years experiences in an industrial area
  • Proven experience in managing projects and applying project management tools.
  • Experience in metal forming, metal cutting, stamping, welding and related processes
  • Experience in plastics processing
  • Proficient with Office software applications and CAD software (CATIA)
  • Independent working style, strong organizational skills and personal commitment are essential. In addition, strong team and communication skills as well as flexibility are expected.
  • Self engaged, team work spirit
  • Awareness of quality policy and quality objectives
  • Fluent in English and German, additional French language skills are of advantage
  • Availability to frequently travel between our two locations in Taufkirchen and Dettingen/ Erms
