QUALIFICATIONS

  • The ideal candidate has a minimum 5 years of Leaves Management experience or equivalent combination of experience and specialize d education.
  • University degree in a related field. Additional course work in Human Resources, Occupational health, rehabilitation, legislation related to leaves management, helping relationship skills, mediation, human resource management, disability insurance, psychological and workplace factors in disability would be an asset.
  • You have strong interpersonal and helping skills along with superior assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks under tight deadlines is a core competency to be successful in the role.
  • We are a customer service focused delivery environment where flexible working hours may be required to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct case assessments, contacting the employee and their direct manager by telephone to explain the leave management.
  • Process and gather information for assessment purposes.
  • Develop and document an understanding of the leave requested and gather necessary documentation to validate the type of leave the employee has applied for.
  • Follow the leave and connect with the employee in a timely fashion to confirm their return to work.
  • Once confirmed provide those details to the employer in a timely fashion so they are ready when the employee does return to work.
  • Communicate proactively with the employer’s HR representative regarding any case management issues that may influence the workplace and RTW planning.
  • Work closely with the employer and employee on managed STD and LTD claims ensuring that the necessary paperwork is completed to determine eligibility under the employers plan.
  • Main point of contact for managed STD/LTD claim with insurer – providing feedback when claim is approved/denied/returns to work are planned as required.
  • Attend Case Management department team meetings as well as monthly client meetings.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.
