SUMMARY

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Psychiatric Mental Health Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor to join our School of Nursing in the fall of 2024 for our 2024/2025 Academic Year. provides a unique, holistic approach in the education of students to care for clients with psychiatric mental health issues. MSOE has a curriculum rich in psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across the lifespan. The Program Coordinator will be responsible, in collaboration with the Program Director, to ensure that the curriculum meets the standards set by AACN and NONPF. The MSOE PMHNP program is endorsed by the American Holistic Nursing Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) and is the sole holistic endorsed PMHNP program in the nation. Therefore, experience in holistic nursing practice is strongly preferred as well as willingness to get credentialed by AHNCC as a holistic nurse. Along with program evaluation and revision, they will also be responsible for assisting with preceptor placements and evaluation. As an Assistant Professor (or rank commensurate with experience) in the School of Nursing, they will have teaching responsibilities in the classroom, on-line classroom, and annual on-campus immersions. These responsibilities include developing and delivering curriculum that is current and based on best evidence and evaluation of objective and subjective student work, providing meaningful feedback. They will develop assessments and assignments that are congruent with course outcomes. Service and scholarship are also expectations of the Assistant Professor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program Coordinator
  • Evaluation and revision of curriculum based on program needs and expectations and according to national standards

  • Manage daily operations of the program
  • Collaboration in the development and implementation of PMHNP Immersion experiences

  • Academic advising of PMHNP students (after 1 year)
  • Policy review and evaluation specific to PMHNP program
  • Collaboration with Chair and MSN Program Director on program needs

  • Delivering course content using a variety of teaching strategies
  • Development and dissemination of assignments and exams
  • Collaboration with lab/simulation faculty/staff as needed for courses

  • Student evaluation through formative and summative assessments
  • Clear communication with students regarding academic progression/professionalism
  • Evaluation of course/teaching strategies at end of quarter

Qualifications

  • PhD or DNP from an accredited institution preferred; MSN required
  • PMHNP certification
  • Certified as an advanced holistic nurse (AHN) by AHNCC or willingness to become certified
  • Appropriate credentialing as required by other accrediting organizations
  • Ability to effectively lead teams
  • Ability to effectively work with a diverse faculty, staff and student body
  • Background of teaching in higher education in both on-line and in-person environments preferred
  • Background in course/curriculum development preferred
  • Current unencumbered RN license
  • Practice background or currently practicing
  • Ability to clearly communicate in a variety of ways
  • Efficiency in use of computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for teaching, Outlook for scheduling
  • Effective organizational skills and methods for prioritization
  • Energetic and positive attitude
  • Ability to recognize and initiate change as needed

Skills and Abilities

  • Requires the ability to read standard English and basic technical data
