Description:
ChristianaCare’s Medical Group is searching for a Full Time Psychologist to join our Consultation Liaison team at Wilmington, DE.
The Psychologist will provide psychology consultation liaison services to patients admitted to medical and surgical units, collaborate with medical teams to address the psychological aspects of patients’ medical conditions, and facilitate integration of mental health care into overall patient treatment plans. This position will also provide teaching to psychology trainees, psychiatry residents and/or other students on the service. This position will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, empathy, and a commitment to delivering high-quality mental health care. The Psychologist will also support the inpatient Psych unit at the Wilmington Hospital.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited institution required.
- Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in the state of Delaware required
- At least 1-year of clinical experience working with medically ill patients in a hospital or healthcare setting, preferred.
- All qualified candidates will be required to be licensed prior to start date.
Responsibilities:
- Provide consultation and liaison services for medical inpatients in collaboration with the consultation liaison and/or inpatient unit psychiatry teams.
- Conduct individual comprehensive psychosocial assessments of patients to evaluate their emotional, cognitive, and behavioral functioning in the context of their medical condition.
- Collaborates with the inpatient medical treatment team including physicians, nurses, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, and supportive personnel regarding treatment planning, therapeutic response, and discharging. When indicated, meets with patients’ families to facilitate treatment and discharge plans and follow-up care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case conferences with consultation liaison and/or inpatient unit psychiatry teams.
- Collaborates with behavioral health professionals throughout the service line to facilitate optimal treatment delivery.
- Provide evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to the specific needs of patients, including but not limited to, supportive therapy (individual or group), cognitive-behavioral techniques, and psychoeducation.
- Participate in teaching of psychology trainees, psychiatry residents and/or other students in practice.
- Performs related duties as required.
