WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia, with either:
  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, or
  • Provisional registration with an ability to fulfil full registration within the relevant timeframes.
  • Knowledge of theoretical and therapeutic frameworks that underpin assessment and intervention in the context of child abuse/neglect/trauma.
  • Current driver’s licence as travelling will be required.

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012

Responsibilities:

YOUR ROLE

Operating as part of a team of psychologists and / or member of a multi-disciplinary team, provide direct psychological assessment, intervention, and therapeutic services to offenders and remandees within custodial and community locations in an allocated cluster or within a specific organisational area.
Provide expert consultation to staff within custodial and community locations regarding the management of remandees and offenders, as well as to provide advice to statutory authorities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide a range of services and programs to offenders in custody and community.

  • Delivering assessments and interventions to people who offend and/or are on remand.
  • Providing expert consultation to staff regarding offender mental health and risk management (including sexual and violent offender assessment).
  • Maintaining concise documents and notes on offenders receiving psychological services and programs.
  • Preparing reports, advice and consultations.
  • Attending professional development and networking opportunities including the annual Psychological Conference.
