JOB DESCRIPTION
- Conducting psychological assessments (i.e. intellectual, behavioural, emotional) for
students and clients to support educational/vocational placement decisions
- Designing appropriate therapy plans and providing psychological
interventions to help address students’ and clients’ academic, social and/or
emotional difficulties
- Conducting intake assessments for placement of new students and clients in the
Centre, working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
- Engaging in collaborative problem-solving with teachers/coaches,
parents/caregivers and other stakeholders, to facilitate the development of
socio-emotional/behavioural/academic functioning of students and clients
- Participating in program-planning meetings and case reviews for individual
students/clients
- Providing advice on how to adapt the curriculum/programme and make
accommodations to cater to a student’s/client’s learning style, cognitive profile,
developmental level or behavioural patterns
- Supporting student and client transition to and from school and Day Activity Centre
- Collaborating and coordinating with external agencies to provide a holistic and
comprehensive service to the student/client
- Providing training to teachers, coaches, parents and caregivers
Responsibilities:
To provide psychological assessments and interventions to students and clients; consult with
teachers and coaches, families, and other Allied Health Professionals (i.e., therapists, social
workers) to improve support strategies; work with school administrators to enhance centre-
wide practices and policies; and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed
services.
