Our values are as important as our abilities and shape who we are as an organisation. Discover more about our values.
Before submitting your application, we recommend you read the job description. Our Life at Surrey handbook also attached provides insights of the culture at Surrey and how as a valued employee, you can help shape our Council.

Responsibilities:

THIS ROLE HAS A STARTING SALARY OF £43,923 PER ANNUM, BASED ON A 36-HOUR WORKING WEEK.

We are excited to be hiring a new Public Health Lead to join our fantastic Substance Use Team, which is part of a larger Public Health Team within Surrey County Council (SCC).The team is based at Woodhatch Place and we work in a hybrid model, working either from a SCC base, out in the community or from home.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Public Health Lead, you will be expected to work independently and manage a budget. This role will primarily focus on addressing harms associated with substance use, working with our community providers to ensure the provision of appropriate harm reduction services are available. It also involves responding to local and national directives relating to harmful substance use and to support the work in reducing drug-related deaths locally.
As a Public Health Lead, you will be working closely with community providers, including community pharmacies delivering substance use services, homelessness charities, peer mentors as well as working at a strategic level with colleagues from Surrey police, integrated care partnerships and our boroughs and districts.
There is an expectation that you will travel across the county as required. There will be plenty of developmental opportunities for you to manage and commission some harm reduction services locally and to engage in regional and national discussions about drug harms.
You will be expected to present and provide reports on drug harms – and other Public Health topic areas as required - using a range of different methods, including by virtual means, written reports, face-to-face meetings.
