Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- The Purchaser in the Marine Industry plays a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services necessary for the smooth operation of marine projects. They are responsible for ensuring that the procurement process is efficient, cost-effective, and aligns with project requirements and timelines
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Previous experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the marine industry.
Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers/vendors.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Sourcing : Identify potential suppliers/vendors for various materials, equipment, and services required for marine projects. Research and evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery timelines.
- Negotiation : Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to obtain the best possible value for the organization while maintaining quality standards. Collaborate with suppliers to establish long-term relationships and favorable terms.
- Procurement :Process purchase orders and contracts in accordance with company policies and procedures. Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as project managers, engineers, and finance department to ensure timely procurement of required materials and services.
- Vendor Management : Manage relationships with existing suppliers/vendors to ensure compliance with contractual agreements, resolve issues, and address any performance concerns. Evaluate supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Cost Control: Monitor and analyze procurement costs to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Develop and implement cost reduction strategies while maintaining quality standards and project requirements.
- Risk Management : Assess and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, such as supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and price fluctuations. Develop contingency plans to minimize the impact of potential risks on project timelines and budgets.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and correspondence with suppliers. Prepare reports and analysis to track procurement performance and provide insights for decision-making.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation in procurement activities. Participate in cross-functional teams to implement improvements and drive efficiency gains in the procurement process
