Description:

We’re hiring an energetic, detail-oriented, Purchasing Manager with experience in purchasing, sourcing and working with suppliers, managing a team of purchasing agents, managing budgets, developing contracts, and implementing sound procurement processes and procedures. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the purchasing team and working closely with other departments, including Engineering, Manufacturing and Customer Service, to help ensure on-time execution of all ski lift and ropeway projects and parts deliveries. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for evaluating and negotiating price, delivery, and credit terms with suppliers, as well as evaluating suppliers for quality and maintaining relationships with them. The successful candidate will need to have very good communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
This position is a hands-on manager and will work along side their purchasing team to ensure success. This is an in-office position in Salt Lake City, Utah. Please include a cover letter with your resume and tell us why you want to work for Doppelmayr USA, Inc.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration, is preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing and supply chain experience in manufacturing environments (required)
  • Experience managing and leading direct reports (required)
  • Global supply chain and overseas shipping experience is a plus
  • Cost accounting experience is a plus

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in use of IFS or similar ERP software
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate and compare supplier, prices, quantities, and availability
  • Communication skills to convey exactly what’s needed and expected from suppliers
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market
  • Talent in negotiations and networking
  • Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data
  • Strong leadership capabilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies
  • Review purchase orders
  • Process purchase orders
  • Manage and lead the purchasing team
  • Become an expert user of the purchasing relevant components of the companies ERP software
  • Resolve issues as they arise, and escalate issues that can not be resolved in a timely manner
  • Build and maintain long lasting relationships with suppliers
  • Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements with key suppliers
  • Develop and utilize key performance indicators (KPI’s) to track supplier performance, and use KPI’s to manage supplier relationships
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on quality, timeliness, price, and service
  • Schedule deliveries and ensure timely fulfillment of orders
  • Coordinate with fellow managers to monitor inventory and determine supply needs
  • Ensure quality of procured items and address issues when they arise
  • Engage with the production department to confirm material requirements to ensure consistent flow of materials to support production
  • Select, hire, and train purchasing agents
  • Review the performance of purchasing agents, and identify opportunities and develop plans to improve performance of individuals and the department
  • Keep up with procurement industry trends, and recommend and implement changes to improve the performance of the Procurement Department
