ABOUT THE POSITION
Rae-Line is seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to conduct purchasing activities and ensure that purchased items are both cost-efficient and of high quality. The purchasing officer’s responsibilities include maintaining positive supplier relations, evaluating supply options, approving purchases, and maintaining accurate records along with other purchasing related tasks.
To be successful as a purchasing officer you should have an analytical mind and keep up with product and service trends. Ultimately, a top purchasing officer should be able to negotiate well and ensure that all purchases comply with company standards. Applicants should be able to perform stated duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
SKILLS. KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- 2+ years of experience as a purchasing officer or in a similar position.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment desirable.
- Good time management & communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills, ability to make timely decisions exercising good judgment.
- Active team player
KEY EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Certificate IV or Diploma or higher in Procurement or a related field preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, purchasing software and excel.
- Australian drivers’ licence.
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
- Syspro experience (or similar manufacturing ERP system)
- Forklift license.
- Microsoft Access Database experience.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing plans for the purchase of materials, equipment, services, and supplies.
- Identify current usage and re-order points.
- Manage purchase schedule.
- Comply with the company’s purchasing policies and procedures.
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
- Identify slow-moving and overstocked inventory.
- Liaise with managers to ascertain purchasing requirements.
- Investigate discrepancies, resolve issues, and liaise with Finance to ensure prompt payment to suppliers.
- Maintaining and updating supplier information such as delivery lead times, product ranges, etc.
- Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating pricing and supply contracts.
- Researching and evaluating current and prospective suppliers.
- Other tasks from time to time in support of the materials department, receiving and receipting materials and stock take activities.
