Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Our friendly team in Pemulwuy HO is looking for an experienced purchasing officer. As our Purchasing Officer, your main responsibility will be to secure an uninterrupted supply of spare parts at the right price while ensuring stock availability to our branches and customers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilise your industry knowledge and purchasing skills while working closely with our existing strong purchasing team.

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with our many suppliers worldwide, ensuring competitive pricing and exceptional delivery performance.
  • Analyze product needs in the portfolio and create and forward purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Monitor and secure the timely delivery of supply by following up on purchase orders, obtaining the relevant confirmation and ensuring that the systems are updated with the relevant information.
  • Proactively identify products where stock or supply is at risk and find solutions before the risk becomes a problem.
  • Provide quick answers to requests from our Sales staff
  • Assist with processing warranty claims and product quality issues related to the product portfolio
  • Building on existing procedures and working with the team, continuously identify opportunities to improve our business and operational efficiency.

You have extensive experience of automotive spares parts, preferably trucks, and you are interested and ready to move into a supply chain role. You possess a deep technical knowledge of parts, and you understand that product quality, availability of supply and effective pricing are paramount.

  • You have strong negotiation skills, and extensive experience in sales or purchasing of automotive spare parts
  • You have effective verbal and written communication skills and able to adapt to people from all backgrounds.
  • You must be an effective negotiator with strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • You are able to complete multiple tasks by being proactive and by closely monitoring a process from start to finish.
  • Your advanced computer skills - MS office, purchasing systems, BI tools - are essential
