JOB DESCRIPTION

The QA Technician will report to the Quality Manager in the quality department. To succeed in this role; you will need to be hands-on, with an eye for detail, solve problems, perform inspections, assess and provide disposition on inward goods, outgoing goods and returned goods.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Higher School Certificate, Electrical or Mechanical trade qualifications or higher
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a quality inspector or product tester in an electrical manufacturing industry
  • High level of computer literacy (Word, Excel and ERP/MRP)

SKILLS:

  • Able to read drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Understand material and product quality
  • Able to write technical reports
  • Experience working within a production environment
  • Basic knowledge of Quality tools, concepts and methodologies
  • Knowledge of lighting products and systems
  • Ability to lift loads up to 20kg on occasion
  • Be self-motivated, able to work independently and multi-task in a timely manner
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Understand ISO 9001 quality management system

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect goods coming from suppliers and provide inspection reports
  • Release conforming goods and quarantine non-conforming goods
  • Inspect in-house manufactured goods and provide inspection reports
  • Inspect and analyse rejected components used in-house manufacturing and provide defective reports
  • Book in returned goods from customers and provide goods return confirmation reports
  • Inspect and analyse returned goods and provide fault analysis report
  • Liaise with Production, Warehouse, Purchasing, Engineering, Aftersales, and Suppliers on corrective/preventive actions for disposition of quarantine goods, rejected components and returned goods
  • Perform minor rework and repair of returned products
  • Complete and maintain all necessary paperwork, reports and documents in a timely manner
  • Build and repair electrical test equipment for use in production and inspection
  • Ensure that all products comply with the relevant safety and quality standards and specifications
  • Address issues and provide supplier and internal corrective action reports
  • Performs all assignments or duties as requested by Quality Manager
  • Deploy QA system, policies and procedures and recommend improvements for procedures and processes
