EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Chemistry preferred. An Associate degree is minimally required, preferably in Biotechnology or science concentration.

EXPERIENCE

  • Up to 2 years of experience in a Microbiology laboratory preferred.
  • Experience with common office software.
  • Experience with LIMS, SLIM, Trackwise, or Documentum a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative microbiological Tests and knowledge and understanding of microbiological methods and aseptic technique.
  • Good knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Good problem-solving skills and logical approach to solving scientific problems.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written- legible handwriting).
  • Good presentation skills to present information to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Strong Mathematical and Time Management Skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write standard operating procedures, simple protocols, and reports.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations, to such tasks as determination of test reliability, analysis of variance and correlation techniques.
  • Adaptable and Capable of working within a team as well as independently

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct microbiological testing of in process products and finished products by internally developed and compendial test methods.
  • Perform method validation testing methods for in process products, and finished products. Perform testing such as USP <61>, <62>, <71>, <85> (Microbiological Examination , Sterility, and Bacterial Endotoxins Test).
  • Generate valid data, document testing procedures and results in appropriate notebooks and database according to cGMP.
  • Compare laboratory results with specifications for acceptability.
  • Maintain equipment and laboratory cleanliness and report any issues to supervisor.
  • Conduct tasks in a safe manner.
  • Follow scheduled assigned activities to meet target dates for customer needs.
  • Interact efficiently with teams across departments and functions to increase efficiency, eliminate problems, generate cost savings and improve quality.
  • Clean and organize work area, instrumentation, and testing materials. Maintain stock of commodities needed for testing support.
  • Perform all duties in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and Safety guidelines. Maintain the necessary compliance status required by company and facility standards.
