Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner to join our busy team within Cardiac Theatre Services in Morriston Hospital, Swansea. We welcome applicants who share The Values and Behaviours of Swansea Bay UHB.
This role requires applicants who are motivated and hardworking and as your confidence and knowledge grows our training team will support you to fulfil your potential.
As with all theatre environments, each day with us has its own special demands as we have a variety of theatre activity on any given day so we are looking individual who are flexible, innovative, highly motivated with great people skills who wants to learn and develop within a challenging and exciting area of patient care. Continuing professional development is encouraged and you will be expected to promote and participate actively in education, research, clinical governance, audit and guidelines. You will be encouraged to take part in the wide range of educational and training opportunities within the health board.
You should be enthusiastic and flexible in your approach, with a commitment to providing excellence in Theatre care. In return you will be joining a friendly, supportive, highly motivated team.
Theatre documentation is recorded electronically, so IT skills are essential.
This post will involve caring for patients within the Theatre Department, specialising in the Anaesthetic setting. The patients you will care for will undergo Cardiac and Thoracic surgery and you will be expected to manage a patients care throughout the perioperative stage, to their discharge.
This is a physically and mentally demanding job and the successful candidate(s) will have to prove they can be adaptable to keep up with this ever changing environment.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The post holder will be based at Morriston hospital and can expect to work across any of the four hospital sites when requested. The post holder is required to work as part of a team to assess, develop, implement and evaluate pre, peri and post operative patient care on a daily basis. Working closely with all disciplines without direct supervision on achieving KSF outline to ensure the effective running of the department out of hours within set guidelines in the absence of the Lead Nurse/ODP.
The post holder is required to provide technical/specialist assistance requiring a high degree of dexterity, precision, accuracy and prolonged concentration to patients and medical staff. The post holder organises own workload/area and may supervise work of others on achievement of
KSF outline within a team.
