JOB DESCRIPTION:

Quality Assurance and Food Safety Supervisor

SUMMARY:

Ensures food safety and quality of all products produced in the plant. Responsible for ensuring specifications are defined and communicated. Performs inspections of processes, employee training, compliance with applicable food laws and regulations and maintains plant HACCP and Food Safety Plans to regulatory compliance. Provides guidance and adherence to quality policies. Actively participates in resolving customer complaints. Is an integral part of the plant leadership team. Provides support to R&D, Operations on customer issues, questions, and concerns. Oversees the facility’s QA, sanitation, and janitorial processes to ensure the effectiveness of the food safety program.
All employees are responsible to follow all of Nutrition Corp. protocols of Food Safety.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Minimum Educational Level: BS degree in Food Science, Microbiology or other related technical field of study
  • HACCP Certified
  • PCQI Certification
    Salary: 65K

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to: Good Manufacturing Processes, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Safe Quality Food (SQF), Gluten Free and Organic Certifications.
  • Aim of achieving high performance, build a positive, team-oriented work culture and environment where continuous improvement, innovative and positive thinking, teamwork, positive behaviors, safety, food safety, and security are natural outcomes.
  • Perform process checks throughout our facility including the kitchen, production, packaging, sanitation fulfillment and warehousing functions of the company, including pre-operational checks, sanitation verification, label checks, seal checks, net weight checks, etc.
  • Maintain a well-organized and sanitary workspace according to the company’s required Good Manufacturing Practices and Sanitary Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Coordinates with customers, vendors and regulatory authorities’ programs, policies and relationships.
  • Monitors daily quality of products, waste, and incoming material.
  • Manage product and customer complaints.
  • Maintains comprehensive understanding of all raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products’ requirements.
  • Assists Management in creating new policies, procedures, and products.
  • Performs facility audits, quality audits, food safety audits, and GMP audits. Verifies quality policies and procedures are being conducted. Prepares documentation and evaluation reports.
  • Helps to coordinate, prepare for, and conduct all third-party food safety, FDA, and USDA audits.
  • Oversees the HACCP and Food Safety program and conducts annual validations.
  • Performs plant inspections and monitors temperatures according to company policies, by use of calibrated thermometers and temperature logging devices.
  • Performs trace/market withdrawal exercises biannually with the participation of management.
  • Directs, delegates duties, and trains QA Technicians under the direction of the QAFS Director.
  • Conducts annual evaluations of department employees with the QAFS Director.
  • Performs plant wide environmental sampling, including air plates, water testing, and environmental swabbing. Completes corresponding paperwork and prepares samples for send-out. Requests purchase of additional testing supplies as needed. Maintains the site’s environmental program, including all results.
  • Monitors and updates food safety documents as needed.
  • Maintain open communications with all departments.
  • Promote a safe, secure, and positive work environment for all Employees.
  • Generate and execute CAPAs and non-conformance paperwork for any ongoing non-conformances.
  • Updates management daily on status of on-hold material and keeps the hold log up to date, working to actively disposition hold material.
  • Works with Production and R&D teams to arrange for testing of any samples for concessions/extensions.
  • Other duties as appropriate or assigned.
