Description:

At SMS Equipment, our Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for creating a quality culture in the Reman department. The Quality Assurance Supervisor will provide recommendations and technical support as well as providing leadership on audits and managing the quality assurance laboratory and production floor testing programs. This position is based in Acheson, AB.
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of maintenance and repair of mining parts and equipment as well as a minimum of 5 years of quality assurance experience within a manufacturing environment. Other requirements include:

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, WI, Checklists, and parts packages.
  • Experience with ISO Certifications.
  • ISO Internal Auditor Certification is an asset.
  • A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of MSDS, WHMIS and OH&S acts and regulations, and equipment inspection requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining high quality standards and recommending and presenting solutions to improve quality and work efficiency.
  • Assist in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs which ensures proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support in order to meet product quality standards.
  • Distributing work assignments and responsibilities and supervising projects to ensure collaboration towards a common objective.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain processes and quality systems, including areas of welding, mechanical, and electrical activities relating more specifically to Komatsu equipment.
  • Manage all relevant Quality Management System documentation and ensure QMS documentation and records are in place.
  • Review, analyze, revise and create processes and procedures for improved efficiency and lower cost including forms and templates for QMS practices.
  • Analyze technical data and prepare technical reports.
  • Generate QMS reports for quarterly meetings.
  • Conduct quality audits to ISO 9001:2015 standards and specifications.
  • Conduct analysis on component failures as needed to verify failure mechanisms to improve, develop and maintain procedures and documentation.
  • Manage Non-Compliance reports and investigate improper service procedures, shipping errors, manufacturing errors, and troubleshoot for root causes.
  • Collaborate with outside consultants such as industry experts and internal SMS departments to assess equipment and part failures and develop appropriate design and/or procedure improvements.
  • Work with customers to resolve issues and implement Business Improvement Systems. Design changes to improve both efficiency and reliability.
  • Other duties as assigned.
