Description:

SUMMARY

As Quality Assurance Team Leader, you will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day management of Quality Assurance activities in our Kitchener facility, all within a fast-paced food-manufacturing environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years’ experience in a QA position (preferably for a food manufacturer)
  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, process engineering or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of food safety (HACCP) programs, GMP programs, and Quality System
  • Experience with BRC an asset
  • Should be flexible to work rotational shifts & weekends per business requirements
  • Must have intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc. skills

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as Back-up for BQM on as required basis
  • Perform Shelf life evaluations on the products per established procedures
  • Conduct daily GMP walkthrough & report any/all findings. Investigate RCA & Implement CAPA after reviewing with the Bakery Quality Manager
  • Supports the Development of Food Safety and Quality training, with the QSL and conducts training on food safety and quality requirements for all employees in the bakery
  • Manages product specification verification and documentation
  • Examines incoming raw materials, process and finished products to make sure they comply with quality and food safety standards
  • Verifies packaging operation to ensure correct packaging, labelling, production codes, and best before marking and carton labelling
  • Conducts sampling of the plant environment and equipment, water, raw materials and finished products for microbiological and/ or analytical testing / sensory evaluation
  • Supports Trials/first production approval runs in keeping with compliance to Stage Gate protocols
  • Hold of product or ingredient control and dispositions.
  • Assists with the maintenance of all HACCP programs
  • Participate & Support in all internal/ third party/ CFIA and/or FDA audits
  • Identify, report non-conformance for any out of compliance situation or food safety incidents. Support BQM with RCA & CAPA implementation for ingredients/packaging, and finished products
  • Completes inspections for glass and brittle plastics, pest control, and overall plant food safety
  • Support BQM with RFT Data measurements & Consumer complaint investigations.
  • Reports and logs analytical test results for each line and ensure compliance to WB and/or customer specifications
  • Completes shift reports and audit sheets as required
  • Performs certificate of analysis reviews and data entry and filing
  • Issues Non Conformance reporting for incoming ingredient or packaging deviations
