Description:

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Follow time and attendance guidelines in accordance with the employee handbook.
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment to successfully manage the Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Utilize professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Use a variety of computer programs and maintain spreadsheets in Excel.

QUALITY CONTROL REQUIREMENTS

  • Appreciation for cleanliness and sanitation, keeping work area clean and organized.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Complete understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Ensure all Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines are implemented & followed.
  • Monitor CCPs and CQPs
    NOTE: Required to report food safety problems or concerns immediately to a person with authority to initiate action as indicated on the organizational chart.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Be aware of and follow up to date OSHA regulations that apply to job tasks.
  • Practice safe lifting techniques, bending and lifting with legs, not back.
  • Pivot with feet avoiding twisting at the waist.
  • Be aware of surroundings; watch for forklift traffic & trip hazards such as pallets or cords.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task at hand.
  • Maintain proper guards and safety devices when working with machinery and on catwalks.
  • Never operate equipment for which you have not been properly trained or certified for.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • SQF Practitioner Certification - preferred
  • HACCP Certification - mandatory
  • PCQI Certification - mandatory

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary SQF Practitioner and be proficient in all areas of SQF code:
  • Responsibility and authority to take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System.
  • Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
  • Ensure site personnel have the required competencies to carry out those functions affecting food safety and product quality.
  • Understand the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing and the SQF Quality Code along with the requirements to implement and maintain the system.
  • Competent in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other quality tools to reduce process variation and drive root cause analysis of non-conformities.
  • Maintain & keep current the SQF System including maintenance of the prerequisite programs.
  • Audit the entirety of the SQF System at least annually using the SQF Verification Schedule
  • Facilitate the annual SQF audit in New Berlin.
  • Serve as the primary HACCP Coordinator
  • Champion the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the HACCP based food safety and quality plans.
  • Participate in HACCP Team meetings.
  • Facilitate the annual facility HACCP Audit.
  • Serve as the primary Food Defense Coordinator
  • Oversee the CAPA Program including the timely maintenance of the CAPA Log.
  • Play an active role in the development, implementation, maintenance and review of all food safety and quality programs, procedures, manuals, records, and forms.
  • Practical application review of how checklists, GMPs, and process variables are followed through to recording.
  • Eliminate redundancy, streamline processes, and prevent a culture of inaccurate data recording due to insufficient understanding of impacts on quality and food safety.
  • Manage the Document Register through assistance from the Quality Technicians.
  • Coordinate preparation for and facilitate 3rd party audits (customer, SQF, regulatory, organic, halal, kosher, etc.).
  • Perform internal audits (GMP, Facility, SQF System Verification).
  • Facilitate Senior Management Review
  • Review Product Specifications
  • Ensure quarterly traceability exercises are performed as described in the Product Identification & Traceability Policy.
  • Verify Pest Reports
  • Maintain the quality training program including Alchemy and SOPs.
  • Serve in a leadership role and actively participate on all teams as needed.
  • Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the Senior Quality Manager. This position reports to the Sr. Quality Manager.
