We are currently looking for a capable Quality Control Technical Services Representative with the primary responsibilities of submitting mix designs and trial batch testing new mix designs.

Salary Range: $60,000-70,000/year depending on qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Secondary Schooling Degree or Diploma
  • Must be a registered Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • 3+ years of concrete testing experience with experience with various mix designs
  • Familiarity with CSA standard concrete practices
  • Ability to read project drawings and understand concrete specifications and project schedules
  • Prior experience in a concrete technical services role (Preferred)
  • Experience with technical mix designs (Preferred)

Responsibilities:

  • Technical mix design documentation and submission
  • Simple mix design submissions
  • Materials updates, including sampling the aggregates properly and delivering to lab for testing in a timely manner
  • Trial batch testing for new and existing mix designs; including set time testing, strength testing, slump retention, air, shrinkage, and flexural.
  • Leadership in Energy and Environment Design submissions for LEED projects
  • Troubleshooting mix designs in trial batch process, production, post-placement
  • Troubleshooting problems with raw materials; including aggregates, cement fly ash, admixtures, etc.
  • Prepare reports for residential or commercial projects on investigative findings
  • Attend pre-pour meetings when necessary
  • Work with Sika admixtures representatives to trial batch mixes in the lab and troubleshoot problems
  • Attend comparative testing program that occur yearly
  • Concrete testing in the field/yard when needed
    Work Environment
    This position operates in both a field and office capacity, sharing time between the field and office.
    Hours of Work
    Quality Control-Technical Services Representatives must be capable of working varied working hours which include weekends and nights.
    Physical Demands
    This is moderately strenuous work. The technician must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs in weight and will be frequently required to crouch, stand, or bend over.
