Job Summary:
You are an ambitious Quality Control Technician with experience in Highways projects. You will participate in the project quality process by testing asphalt and granular materials. You are a problem solver and continuously look for innovative solutions that can be utilized on projects.
This position will run from May to October and will be site based across various projects throughout Alberta.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensures quality records are accurately completed
  • Implements, coordinates, and maintains Ledcor systems and procedures in accordance with project specifications
  • Performs general administrative and record keeping functions to ensure project specific quality management information is readily available including the completion of required quality documentation
  • Testing asphalt material including sieve tests, density tests and oil tests. Testing granular materials including sieve tests
  • Sampling asphalt including coring
  • Communicating with management and supervision as necessary
  • Driving 3/4 trucks with a coring unit on it
  • Assisting with field survey
  • Participates in the change management process of changes to the work by carrying out some trouble-shooting and debriefing with department processes to continually improve upon the products, service and support provided

Qualifications

  • 1+ years related work experience or combination of relevant education and experience
  • Completion of post-secondary education with a related diploma, degree, or trade certificate
  • Prior testing experience is an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of sieve analysis
  • Detailed technical knowledge of codes and standards, regulatory requirements, modern construction practices, techniques, and equipment
  • Strong computer background including experience with MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills, confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements

Work Conditions

  • This position is likely to run from May to November 2024
  • Candidates must be flexible to work on projects throughout Alberta
  • Shift rotation working 10-14 hours per day. Candidates must be flexible regarding their shift schedule to work nights and overtime
  • Living out allowance of $135.00 per day is provided
  • Preference for those with an RV or trailer, camp area with hookups provided
