JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

  • The Quality Engineer is technically responsible for the quality maturation

of parts and the quality performance of the plant.

  • They uphold customer requirements and respond to issues, drive cost

saving initiatives/process improvements within the plant and support

supplier development.

  • They are also responsible for product launch quality deliverables and for

ensuring anonymous delivery to customers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Perform product, system and process audits of the plant’s quality management system to an IATF16949 standard.
  • Support all quality aspects of product launches.
  • Develop and implement cost saving initiatives.
  • Support the wider quality team with inspection requirements, offer guidance on technical drawing requirements and measurement methods.
  • Monitor supplier performance and escalate issues to the wider corporate quality team.
  • Support supplier PPAP launch in conjunction with the Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) team.
  • Support and effectively communicate with customers
  • Support AAM’s internal quality system and ensure compliance
  • Ensure a “data-driven” mentality is upheld to identify issues and implement preventative actions, use statistical data to highlight opportunities and ensure actions are implemented.
  • Manage a small team and lead specific topic areas within the Quality department.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION

  • Ideally educated to a degree level in an engineering field. Alternatively, 5+ year working in the automotive sector in a similar role
  • Competence in using quality “core tools” (APQP / PPAP / SPC / MSA / FMEA / Control Plan). Preferably core tools certified.
  • Competence in problem solving methodologies, primarily “8D”. Preferably knowledge also of “Shainin problem solving techniques”
  • Product knowledge of metals, chemicals, casting, forgings, etc.
  • Computer literate with all Microsoft Office packages.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal & written), coupled with good numeric skills to be able to present facts for demonstration purposes.
