Attributes, Qualifications & Experience Required for Position:

  • Third level degree or equivalent in electrical/ electromechanical engineering, quality, or science.
  • Minimum of five years’ prior relevant experience in Electromechanics or Quality engineer role, preferably in a Motor Generator repair environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working to Quality standards e.g. AS9110, EAS FAA regulations.
  • Lean Six Sigma training and practical experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Leadership skills and a positive attitude

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the Quality standards at Collins Aerospace Shannon and its subcontractors on all items for repair, materials, and processes in compliance with Collins Aerospace and National Aviation Authority Airworthiness requirements.
  • Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluations, control systems and protocols.
  • Work with designs and specifications, devise testing plans, methods and equipment to assure reliability of the product.
  • Collaborate internally to ensure all quality standards are in effect.
  • Perform failure analysis on warranties (field failures) and in process failures.
  • Provide technical support to repair operations on an ongoing basis e.g Calibration, Test Equipment, Cleaning systems.
  • Process owner for Quality Clinic and Material Review Board
  • Operate and support the systems that are in place in the repair operations to ensure that the Company continues to meet its regulatory requirements. e.g. NDT, customer communication
  • Project lead assigned process development initiatives through to operational completion.
  • Leverage continuous improvement processes and tools (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) to improve process performance.
  • Project lead cost saving and labour reduction initiatives.
  • Liase with the materials department in sourcing, identifying, and developing approved materials/vendors.
  • Assist in the training of repair operations team members in new product/knowledge transfer.
  • Develop testing procedures.
  • Communicate with employees / managers in a positive manner.
  • Work as part of the Quality team in achieving company Goals as per the Company Strategic business plan.
  • Work with the extended quality team and peers in other functional groups to drive reductions in Escapes, COPQ via root cause analysis & problem solving and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in developing and simplifying standard work for areas related to quality.
  • May be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one’s skills.
