Description:

Giatec Scientific Inc. (Giatec) is looking for a passionate, driven, and result-oriented Quality Engineer to be a vital member of our Hardware Development team. As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all electrical, mechanical components, parts, and/or Hardware (HW) assemblies of Giatec’s products meet or exceed quality standards and requirement.
In this role, you will also become part of a cross functional team collaborating with designers, engineers, suppliers, and manufacturers to deliver highest quality products to our customers.
The work location for this role is primarily onsite (i.e. at Giatec’s office/lab in Ottawa, ON).

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma in related field with minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in Quality Control.
  • Possess working experience and knowledge of the following core tools:
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Control Plan
  • Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Excellent problem solving, strategic thinking, planning and decision-making skills with a keen eye for detailed work.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and produce comprehensive recommendations and proposals.
  • Proactive communication with excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies & IPC 610.
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and either have or be able to rent a vehicle for the purpose of travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end manufacturing processes and product quality at one or more of Giatec’s approved contract manufactures.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings and standards to determine performance, inspection, and testing criteria for products and raw materials.
  • Assess production process, identify and resolve quality issues and train contract manufactures.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues with suppliers and component manufactures.
  • Define, collect, report and display quality data.
  • Manage suppliers and component manufacture related RMA’s.
  • Update and improve the standards and processes impacting product quality.
  • Develop and validate quality and test procedures required for the development of new products technology.
  • Provide quality and manufacturing perspectives during design development meetings and reviews.
  • Travel to contract manufacture partners on a regular basis up to 20% of the time.
