ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Review dimensional inspection reports (DIR) and perform final inspections as required.
- Investigate daily non-conformances and reworked product, and coach inspectors as required to analyze production data.
- Build from the CMM and in process inspection results, follow up with the team in completing reaction plans to enable machine operators to adjust the machine or tooling to reduce process variation back to nominal.
- Raise engineering change requests (ECRs) to drive corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances.
- Drive continuous improvement with engineering and production to build inspection rationalization plan to improve throughput and standardize work instruction into the work order (MCS).
- Review supplier documentation and release material to the shop floor.
- Approve new releases or revisions of purchase orders, inspection and test plans, and manufacturing control sheets (MCS).
- Drive and manage all NCR’s for disposition and recommend to engineering necessary DDR’s.
- Release weekly KPI’s and drive the monthly Corrective Action Board to review monthly metrics for NCR’s, scrap, reworks stratified by type.
- Take the lead to close customer corrective actions by working with Engineering and Production departments.
- May be required to conduct Source Release/Witness inspections at vendor sites, which includes dimensional inspection, documentation review, etc.
- Ensure on time delivery of completed history dockets for own respective products.
- Ensure successful completion of the assigned tasks within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Post-secondary education metrology, quality, or engineering discipline or equivalent experience and education. Bachelor’s degree is an asset.
- 0 - 3 years of experience in a quality engineering role or related field.
- Knowledge of ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0 and N299 quality programs is an asset.
- Experience in precision-machined parts manufacturing and related processes including heat treatment, plating, assembly and testing activities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills to work within a team-based environment.
The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $59,000 and $86,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Responsibilities:
The Quality Engineer will perform conventional, straight forward engineering assignments related to in-process and final inspections processes. They will be responsible for the efficient flow of product and documentation through the QC Lab while assuring compliance to customer, regulatory and company requirements.
