Hexcel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer I for our Kent, WA location. This facility designs and manufactures a broad range of complex structural composites and assemblies supplying some of the world’s top aerospace and defense contractors. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for several product lines working within the quality management system. Additionally, the QE must ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of processes and quality controls with an emphasis to details and maintaining the utmost personal integrity, positive, and professional image.
Summary pay range: $66,125 - $113,356 annual salary.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Know and apply applicable customer specifications, procedural requirements, and internal quality procedural requirements to assure compliance to required systems and procedures. Conduct internal and external audits as required. Create and maintain quality documentation and corrective action plans when required by customer or internal system. Review and process discrepancy tags when MRB action is required.
  • Review, analyze, and approve production planning with respect to the quality, first article and inspection requirements, model base definition (MBD) and GD&T requirements. Analyze technical requirements of contracts, drawings and specifications to develop plans for product quality.
  • Participate in design reviews, develop part inspection plans, and drive overall continuous improvement projects.
  • Regular and frequent communication with customer Quality Assurance organizations regarding first part qualifications, root cause and corrective action status, program status, or advanced rejection tag information. Effectively work with suppliers and Supplier Quality to assure requirements are implemented and compliant. Must work with customer’s on-site representation and visit customer sites from time to time.
  • Model safe working habits and champion safety in the workplace. Operate at all times in compliance with the Hexcel Kent Quality System and Quality Policy. Comply with Hexcel policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline from four-year college or university required. Minimum of two years of experience in Quality Assurance, aerospace manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and Nadcap requirements. Familiarity or hands-on experience with measurement and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to define problems, characterize defects, collect data, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Communication and inter-personal skills to communicate the defined problems, data, and conclusions.
  • Experience with reading, analyzing, interpreting, presenting, and creating the following: drawings and specifications with MBD, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Other preferred experience and skills: Lean/Six Sigma, American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification, Certified Lead Auditor training, strong technical analysis, and strong statistics background in support of Six Sigma activities.
