BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T
  • Experience using inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, pin gages, thread gages, etc.)
  • Coachable and willing to be fully engaged in all aspects of Quality principles and activities
  • Experience with AS 9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

Responsibilities:

POSITION ROLE TYPE:

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire a Quality Engineer to join our Ejection Seating team in beautiful Colorado Springs, CO. This position develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation, control systems and protocols. Works with designs and specifications, devises testing plans, methods and equipment to assure reliability of product. Collaborates internally to ensure quality standards are in effect. Ensures that projects and process control documents are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contracts. Identifies and manages risk in product development (primarily utilizing and driving Production Part Approval Process (PAPP) core elements e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.). Develops and implements proactive quality strategies. Performs Escape
management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommends corrective action(s). Ensures all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management (e.g. Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance). Designs and implements product engineering changes to satisfy quality issues raised by customers. Supports the development and maintenance of inspection technologies or methodologies to assure product conformance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, coordinate, and take responsibility for Quality activities that support the design, manufacturing and assembly of ejection seats.
  • Ensuring customers receive conforming material in timely manner through execution of processes. This includes gathering information and inputs for processing material through MRB and the Quality Clinic.
  • Support FAI activities IAW AS9102.
  • Support compliance of special processes.
  • Facilitate and investigate RCCA for nonconformances.
  • Review and approve of engineering change orders.
  • Support for assigned programs/customers including KPI and customer specific corrective action.
  • Assist in the creation of root cause and corrective actions across the site.
  • Drive improvements through the corrective action board.
  • Initiate regular internal business process assessments to measure the “health” of the business in between audit cycles.
  • Communicate with site and quality leadership regarding trends (metrics) and nonconformances.
