ROLE SUMMARY:

You will be working across the Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing functions of the business, leading the definition of quality and traceability systems, both generically and project specific, to ensure that we are correctly measuring and monitoring projects and product manufacture, using APQP tools and our business systems to facilitate this in the most appropriate way possible.
You should be a highly capable, confident individual who has a good understanding of the Design, Production and Quality requirements of the business and an individual job, communicating well with all key stakeholders to deliver improved processes, quality, and throughput of parts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the primary link between Quality and Project Engineering, converting the Quality requirements into “real life”, traceable requirements and data. To achieve this the Quality Engineer will define Quality Control Plans and/or the electronic systems (Adept) system to gather and control processing requirements, process information will be analysed and reported on, to drive efficiency improvements.
  • Lead and manage new products through production processes and inspection, generating inspection programmes, jigs, fixtures and procedures where required to ensure efficient and effective data capture and process monitoring.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Project Manager and SLT to summarise production and process efficiency, scrap rates and cost of poor quality, using the real data collected from production components.
  • Support New Product Introduction through early engagement with project engineering team, to define achievable process tolerances and manage customer expectations, ensuring a successful transition from design to production.
  • Support customer PPAP documentation and relevant activities.
  • Generate and use appropriate APQP tools (e.g. FMEAs, SOPs, Control Plans, Process Capability etc.) to support/establish the right production solution for the project, and embed the use of these tools within the business.
  • Develop electronic traveller databases such as Adept, to reduce the time taken for manual data capture and improve the speed of reporting and flagging production / quality issues.
  • Ensure the robustness of these tools in practice on the shop floor.
  • Work closely with all key stakeholders through our New Product Introduction process, ensuring that there is a coherent plan between initial design development and our future production plans.
  • Work with the relevant Engineering leads in other areas of the business to support projects as necessary with specific technical expertise.
  • Integrate production processes with SAP ERP system and Shop Floor Data Capture systems where appropriate.
  • Working closely with Project Engineers, supporting the creation of Quality Documentation for new products during NPI.
  • Lead non-conformance investigations and identify root cause and corrective action implementation and support customer investigations.
  • Drive process improvement through data driven decision making process utilising process capability and inspection data.
