Description:

Mueller has an opening in our Decatur, Illinois operations for a Quality Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Active, hands-on leader in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of operational issues especially as related to business unit and plant KPI’s.
  • Continually improve manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product and machine design; as well as conferring with vendors and soliciting observations from plant operators.
  • Work within the operational team supporting day-to-day problems and improvements.
  • Provide directional recommendations by evaluating production costs, reviewing scheduling practices, and estimating future requirements.
  • Ensure necessary process documentation is implemented and updated as needed, including but not limited to work instructions, standard work, maintenance repair procedures, preventative maintenance checklists, and other applicable process control documents.
  • Direct efforts to meet and/or exceed compliance with all regulatory bodies, organizations, and government requirements in the performance of position duties.
  • Supervise a team of Quality Technicians that cover 3 shifts. Responsible for the team being properly trained, the training is documented, and clear goals are set to ensure success.
  • Investigate customer complaints. Determine root cause and assign appropriate corrective actions.
  • Review and disposition all suspect material in a timely manner. Analyze data and issue corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Recommend and execute continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Become a “product expert” for assigned area.
  • Keep Safety and Quality as top priorities in all endeavors.

Required Experience and/or Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-4 years of experience or equivalent in a manufacturing environment
  • Working experience as a process engineer in a machining environment is highly desired.
  • Six Sigma training is preferred (Green belt/Black belt).
  • Strong grasp of lean manufacturing concepts is preferred.
  • Experience supervising a small team is preferred.
  • Knowledge of gauges and the calibration process is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CNC machining process is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees, customers, and outside professionals.
