Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • Red X Journeyperson
  • Management experience with demonstrated coaching success
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

We are currently looking for a Quality Engineer at our Oshawa Assembly facility. In this role, the successful incumbent will be responsible for upholding GM’s purpose and values and ensuring the safe work practices of all it’s employees. You will also support the plant in achieving business plan metrics with a focus on attainment of Quality metrics.

WHAT YOU’LL DO (RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Perform early issue identification, tracking and resolution to ensure segment leadership
  • Provide executive level reviews to Paint Production and Plant Quality management relative to quality issues identified
  • Generate unique technical solutions utilizing Seven Diamonds Process, Red X, Voice of the Customer
  • Support resolution of common cause defect (Diamonds 1-4, manufacturing controllable IPTV (External warranty incidents) and DRR / GCA (internal defects) activities
  • Drive and support departmental Verification Station activities
  • Coach, teach, mentor and develop department in problem solving processes and BIQ IV across the Paint Shop
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to hourly problem solvers
  • Support compliance (audit) process control plan and technical and equipment bulletins (T&EB)
  • Drive tooling compliance
  • Lead area countermeasure meeting and participate in RPN reduction activity (PFMEA)
  • Be Quality Basket Weave representative
  • Work with Process Engineering and Maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement
