Service: Clinical Excellence
Contract: 6 month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: $107,709 - $161,563

MOŪ – ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone with comprehensive general knowledge of an experience in leading quality and safety within a health care environment, with an ability to provide expert patient safety advice. You will have an understanding of New Zealand Health legislation, risk management and clinical governance as well as a strong understanding of health care quality.

You will be committed to improving the quality and safety of services for our communities and have the ability to challenge the status quo and view things from different perspectives. Other skills and experience we are looking for include:

  • A relevant health qualification an clinical experience is essential
  • An understanding of and commitment to consumer engagement and patient centred care
  • Experience and success in coaching, mentoring and facilitation
  • Considerable experience in building, influencing, and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven experience in managing and developing staff at a middle management level in a large, complex organisation
  • Experience in serious adverse events review methodologies and HDC and Coronial case management
  • Strong interpersonal skills, displaying honesty, integrity and a demonstrated sense of ethics in all decisions and actions
  • High level of expertise in using data to inform decision-making
  • innovative thinking and continuous improvement
  • Excellent writing skills and IT Skills
  • High level of presentation, communication and influencing skills

Responsibilities:

The Quality and Patient Safety Manager is responsible for improving patient safety and system resilience to reduce patient harm associated with healthcare. This is a key leadership role also responsible for coaching, developing and leading the Quality Team Leader and Patient Safety Advisors, providing high levels of expertise and experience in patient safety and quality.
The Quality and Patient Safety Manager is a member of the Centre of Clinical Excellence Leadership Team (LT). This role acts as part of a leadership collective which has prime responsibility for supporting the Executive Director Clinical Excellence and Group Manager Clinical Excellence. Together we provide leadership in innovation, improvement and research as well as partnering with patients/whānau/community and staff to support culture change to one where quality and safety is everyone’s responsibility. In addition, each LT position has individual accountability for leading a range of functions to deliver on agreed outcomes.
In this role you will report to the Group Manager Clinical Excellence and work collaboratively with the Simulation Service Manager, Governance Manager, and the professional clinical leads for the Centre of Clinical Excellence, with a specific focus on reducing patient harm.
