Job purpose
This position will provide support functions to Operations including maintaining ISO qualification in the Safety, Environmental and Quality programs to enhance business development, ensuring sustainability and customer satisfaction.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing related activities such as vendor relations as well as responsible for inventory management programs
  • Responsible for continuous improvement plans and other projects which may be assigned
  • Documents quality issues & related problems and communicates these to employees to implement corrective actions and follow up
  • Manages site safety & environmental programs following JSA’s and SOP’s; to include, verifying that visitors & clients follow all site policies (e.g. no cameras, proper tour etiquette, follow all safety rules, etc.)
  • Manages the Montreal Six Sigma, Lean & Continuous Improvement programs
  • Manages requisitions and purchase orders of consumables and items for the workshop; to include, ordering small small purchases such as safety gloves, goggles, drills, tools, consumables, etc.
  • Maintains relationships with suppliers and vendors on behalf of the facility and ensures that they are compliant with Browz program
  • Responsible for preventive maintenance of equipment in the workshop
  • Responsible for physical inventory; to include, performing regular spot checks and ensuring that inventory data is accurate
  • Participates & reports in the weekly conference calls and meetings, and additional meetings as needed; to include being a member of the quality, health, safety & environmental committees

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field from an accredited College or University, or an equivalent combination of education & experience
  • 5 years of experience in an industrial management environment, logistical duties in a production/manufacturing setting
  • Proven knowledge of ISO 9001 quality system & standards
  • Knowledge of metric & imperial units of measure
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, extremely organized
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); to include, standard logistics software
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Strong analytical skills, exceptional judgment, dependable, excellent teamwork skills, good time management skills, able to delegate, creative, problem-solving, hardworking & persistent, professional competence, proactive
  • Maintains good public relations by displaying an attitude of dedication, courtesy and professional competence that will be recognized as such by customers
  • Bilingual in both official languages, orally & written (French & English)
  • Current/active driver’s license

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field from an accredited College or University, or an equivalent combination of education & experience
  • 6+ years of experience performing logistical duties in a production/manufacturing setting
  • Project management
  • Experience in the cutting of steel with oxy-fuel or plasma
    Working conditions
    Travel up to 10% of time to other SSAB locations, as needed, including internationally
