What to Expect
The Quality Technician Casting is responsible for conducting quality control inspections in the casting department, with a focus on check sheets, X-ray examinations, component tests, and chemical analyses. This role involves monitoring casting processes to ensure that the produced castings meet the required quality standards. The Quality Technician Casting works closely with the production and quality control teams to ensure compliance with all casting specifications and requirements.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform quality control inspections on castings according to provided check sheets to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Utilize X-ray techniques to examine the internal structure of castings and identify defects or flaws
  • Conduct component tests to verify the mechanical properties of castings (e.g., tensile strength, hardness)
  • Perform chemical analyses to ensure that the metallurgical properties of castings meet the specified requirements
  • Document and report any deviations from quality standards or specifications to the appropriate departments
  • Collaborate with the production and quality control teams to ensure compliance with all casting specifications and requirements
  • Assist in conducting root cause analyses and contribute to the development of corrective actions
  • Monitor and maintain inspection equipment and tools, ensuring calibration as necessary
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide recommendations for process optimization

What You’ll Bring

  • Technical education or equivalent qualification in the casting field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position, focusing on quality control and inspection in the casting industry
  • Proficiency in the use of check sheets, X-ray techniques, component tests, and chemical analyses
  • Experience with inspection equipment and tools in the casting industry
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is advantageous
  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify defects and deviations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with various departments
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software programs

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move products and materials up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as using inspection equipment and tools
