Job Description
To reduce our dependence on rainfall and groundwater and support the growing population, Water Corporation has formed the Alkimos SeaWater Alliance, which includes ACCIONA Construction Australia.
The Alliance will design, construct, operate and maintain the Plant which will produce 50 billion litres of drinking water per year, with provision to expand by an additional 50 billion litres per year in the future.
Construction of the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant will commence over the coming months and the project is expected to be completed in 2029. To help us construct the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant we seek to bring an experienced Quantity Surveyor with experience in structural mechanical piping.

Key accountabilities for the position

  • Analysing proposed and required changes in design scope and provide a cost and quantity impact plan / estimate.
  • Provide both high level and detailed cost plans / estimates as required.
  • Early identification and assessment of risks and opportunities
  • Review designs and provide estimated cost break down when required.
  • Confer with construction engineers and design team on changes and adjustments to cost plans / estimates.
  • Prepare cost plans / estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, scheduling, and control of work.
  • Prepare cost plans / estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Present analysis to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of positive initiatives to enhance the working experience for the Alliance.
  • Contribute to the Project Strategic Plan, participating in the implementation of key people initiatives.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • You will be Tertiary qualified in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or equivalent.
  • You will have a solid foundation of experience in a Cost Planning, Cost Estimating or Quantity Surveying within an Structural Mechanial and Piping.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills
