Description:

We are now seeking an intermediate Quantity Surveyor who can be part of our future progression running projects end to end. This person must be a solutions-based thinker with the ability to multitask and jump between projects as required. You will be working in a team of 8 people, so the ability to work in a team environment and autonomously is important.
The company is a busy Interior Fitout company providing services to the commercial building sector throughout New Zealand. Their range of services includes (but is not limited to) steel and timber framing, insulation, gib fixing and stopping, ceilings, and acoustic treatments.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • You will be working closely with the Project Managers to successfully deliver multiple projects including tendering, contract negotiations, contract administration, variations and cost management.
  • Overseeing a range of trades that will be overlapping at times, this role will suit a well organised individual with an eye for detail and the ability to multitask well.
  • Collating of Site instructions and VO requests from the site team and clients.
  • Measuring and submitting VO’s in a timely manner to ensure this items have been picked up.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and overseeing purchase ordering for both materials and subcontractors
  • Work closely with the Commercial and Contract Managers with claims, forward work planning and to adapt and refine processes.
  • Manage onsite meetings with clients and vendors
  • Ability to travel to client and vendor onsite meetings in Hamilton and Tauranga. Occasionally further with over night stays.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Project Management.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in the NZ commercial construction market post study. Interior fitout experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience in tendering jobs. Skills in reading and understanding drawings, take off preparation and job pricing.
  • Experience in contract admin and contract negotiations, displaying a sound understanding of New Zealand building law.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, as you will be tasked with overseeing and managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • The ability to meet deadlines consistently is essential in driving successful project outcomes.
  • Experience engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, necessitating the capacity to articulate ideas, concerns, and information in a professional and assertive manner.
  • Experience managing 3+ concurrent projects.
  • A full and clean NZ driver’s license is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in MS Office, cost management, and estimating software.
