JOB ADVERT SUMMARY

Rand Water is looking Senior Quantity Surveyors in the Project Planning Department, the incumbent will be responsible to provide a professional quantity surveying / cost engineering service for all the Projects within the Strategic Asset Management Division.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Min. National Diploma in Quantity Surveying or Engineering qualifications (BSc / BTech degree will be an added advantage)
  • Minimum 10 years Quantity Surveying/Cost Engineering experience with a proven track record in the Engineering field (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Automation and Building, etc.)
  • Professional Registration (eligibility to be registered) with the South African Council of Quantity Surveyors (SACQS) or the Engineering Council of SA (ECSA)
  • Project Management Qualification (Diploma / Degree) will be an advantage
  • Computer Literate – SAP Project System, MS Office with strength in Excel, MS Project, WinQS
  • Proven management, communication and leadership skills, strong influencing skills, conflict resolution skills and ability to achieve objectives without having direct responsibility.
  • Sound knowledge of Project Estimating and Enterprise Project Management tools

KNOWLEDGE

  • Project cost estimating techniques
  • CIDB regulations
  • Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
  • Knowledge of the OHSACT
  • Pertinent legislation in water industry
  • FIDIC suite of contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage quantity surveying services relating to estimating and cost control, the tendering process and, after contract award, the commercial interface.
  • Financial evaluation during Tender Adjudication
  • Verification and Valuation of contract claims, variations, calculation of penalties, escalation
  • Monthly site measurements and Preparation of Payment Certificates
  • Prepare all levels of Estimates
