The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all quantities related to this project, from initial calculations to final figures. The role aims to minimize project costs and enhance value for money while achieving required standards and quality. The Quantity Surveyor controls quantities and monitors the progress of the relevant project.
This role interacts with foremen and supervisors to obtain all necessary information for accurate measurement of work phases’ physical progress and reports to the Project Control Manager. The Quantity Surveyor also collaborates with Home Office and Field Engineering, the Contract Manager, the Planner, and the Cost Controller.

Tasks

  • Support the Planner in preparing quantity/work hour reports.
  • Prepare data for Construction Payment Certificates and assist the Cost Controller in preparing Monthly Payment Certificates for the client.
  • Review and measure work allocated to subcontractors and their reported physical progress.
  • Participate in the change and claim process, and in the analysis of quantities and change notices.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Manage Material Take Off (MTO) and Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
  • Calculate quantities for subcontracts, purchase requests, and invoicing.
  • Track physical construction progress onsite by interfacing with foremen and supervisors, loading data into progress tracking software or specific Excel forms, and coordinating with the Planner and Cost Controller.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly report preparation.
  • Review Subcontractor Progress Reports and Invoices, and support the Cost Controller in preparing the Cost Control Report.
  • Provide support in the preparation of the Project Close Out Report.

Requirements

  • Specific technical skills in relevant disciplines (pipeline, civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation) with a background in Oil and gas, power plants, construction, design, and engineering works.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project control and project management techniques and tools (e.g., project planning and control, construction progress measurement, contract management).
  • Ability to interpret drawings, contracts, and scope of works correctly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good interpersonal skills for coordination with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Capable of handling technical and commercial clarifications, negotiations, and decision-making related to their work.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and methodical approach.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability and stress tolerance.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, and experience with Construction Management Systems.
  • Professional proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Construction Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with company tools, procedures, and processes (ERP, Construction Management System, Document Management System, Project Control Standards, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and software for drafting and 3D modeling is advantageous.

Education Requirements

  • Diploma, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Construction).
