MINIMUM EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

• BS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or other natural science disciplines with 2 years’ experience or MS
• Working experience with in technical software development proven by academic, research, or industry projects.
• Good understanding and skills in object-oriented programming

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• MS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or other natural science disciplines. Working experience in technical software development proven by academic (PhD), research, or industry projects.
• Experience with C++ and Python
• Understanding of graphical user interfaces and visualization (desktop and/or web-app)
• Know-how on cloud computing technologies like micro-service architectures, RPC frameworks (e.g., gRPC, containers)
• Technical knowledge and experience with finite element simulation (e.g. Ansys, LS-Dyna), CAD modeling
• Background on composite structures and material modeling
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team

SUMMARY / ROLE PURPOSE

As a Software Developer, you will contribute to the development of Ansys Mechanical simulation products and components. The focus is on pre- and post-processing of simulation models that consist of layered composite materials. The role includes work on the computational kernel, the graphical user interface and the scripting API. The Software Developer will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to translate customer requirements into software features.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems
• Understands and employs best practices
• Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
• Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
• Works under the general supervision of a development manager
