We are looking for a R&D Engineer at ABB Oy, Large Motors and Generators division in Helsinki. You will be part of our mechanical engineering team in Research and Development. In this position, you will contribute development and product upgrade tasks for large motors and generators product designs. You will have an opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues, grow your skills in the field of mechanical engineering and take next steps in your career.

Your responsibilities:

• Ensuring and improving the mechanical performance of large motors and generators
• Contributing to development of new products and to product upgrade of large motors and generators
• Mechanical engineering in 2D and 3D environments
• PDM system engineering
• Executing tasks in new product development projects
• Working closely with mechanical engineers globally to ensure effective development
• Cross functional collaboration with sales, design, local and global manufacturing, and other ABB business lines

Your background:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience or knowledge of the design of welded and machined structures
• Knowledge of the most common manufacturing techniques used in mechanical engineering and their cost-effective application
• Experience of industrial machine engineering and 2D and 3D engineering software (e.g. AutoCad, NX) are seen as an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Interest in product development and desire to learn new things
• Teamwork skills in multi-cultural environment
• Good written and spoken communication skills in Finnish and English
