WHAT YOUR JOB WILL BE LIKE
We are seeking a R&D General Technologist to join our dynamic team to develop creative solutions to unique national security challenges.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment and perform safety inspections
- Sustain the department’s fleet of vehicles and perform personnel training on those vehicles
- Ensure the department’s VTRs are accessible to customers and update the software personnel tracking system as needed to include new users
- Act as the point of contact for multiple labs to include escorting, maintenance, logistics, customer service, and problem resolution
- Order, dispose, and inventory chemicals and personal protective equipment and train laboratory personnel on their proper usage
- Manage hazardous waste generated by lab users
- Manage transportainers owned by the department
- Coordinate material needing to be sent to Reapplication and compliant with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations
- Operate the departments 3D printers, coordinate required maintenance, and order supplies to ensure efficient operations
- Develop, build, and test flight hardware in a fast paced, teaming environment supporting customer needs/requirements
Due to the nature of the work, this candidate must be able to work onsite. Abiltiy to travel.
QUALIFICATIONS WE REQUIRE
- High School diploma plus 4 years experience
- An active DOE Q security clearance or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOD Top Secret
QUALIFICATIONS WE DESIRE
- Experience in mechanical build, including the ability to read and implement builds from mechanical drawings
- Demonstrated experience teaming with a group of people who have a diverse skill set and are able to deliver to their customers with excellence
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge and experience in mechanics or related technologies including electronics and computer aided design, and manufacturing software/instrumentation
- Knowledge and experience with installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining equipment/systems
- Experience with laboratory safety and safe chemical handling
- A record of performing assigned tasking while working within budget and scheduling challenges
- The ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, drawings, layouts, and other related specifications
- Experience preparing and presenting systems and equipment reports
- Knowledge of Sandia National Laboratories policies, practices, and procedures
- Knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting equipment, and systems maintenance and engineering
- The ability to interpret and apply knowledge and practical understanding of equipment and system theory and principles
- Knowledge of 3D printing and associated hardware
- Experience training peers to increase team knowledge base
- Knowledge of inventory systems
- Experience ordering material in support of customers
- Experience scheduling facilities work orders
- Experience managing hazardous waste
- Experience operating fork lifts
