Description:

R&D LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

We are currently looking for an R&D Lab Technician to join our team at Apollo (an Apex Water and Process Inc. company) in our St. Michael, MN, office! JOB SUMMARY:

The R&D Lab Technician will spend the majority of his or her time working in the lab but will also play a crucial role in providing technical support for field sales and service personnel in their recommendations for customers by assisting in the interpretation of technical data, answering questions about the Company?s products, and troubleshooting product issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong laboratory skills and have a proactive attitude towards providing exceptional technical support to ensure customer satisfaction.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor?s degree in relevant science field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High aptitude toward data management, spreadsheets, and other computer applications
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials, including chemicals, and demonstrate a commitment to safety by following all established protocols for handling such substances
  • Ability and willingness to properly wear all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for the role, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended time periods

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor?s degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science
  • Past experience working in a lab setting

Responsibilities:

The typical job duties will fall under two different categories, R&D Laboratory and support of technical activities and are listed below.

  • R&D Laboratory:
  • Prepare and set up lab experiments to evaluate product performance
  • Record data and maintain accurate records
  • Analyze and interpret data to drive product recommendations
  • Assist in the formulation of custom chemical blends and conduct validity tests
  • Provide support for chemical blends in the field, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards
  • Develop and manage safety and regulatory materials associated with finished products
  • Coordinate/oversee external lab sample preparation, testing, and analysis
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results
  • Interpret laboratory results, whether generated in-house or from third-party labs
  • Additional Support of Technical Activities:
  • Support products and assist in technical issues facing our field sales and service team and customers
  • Troubleshoot issues related to excessive corrosion, deposit formation, and other water treatment concerns
  • Provide timely and effective solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams as needed
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of regulatory compliance records
  • Oversee the required annual reporting to various local/state/federal agencies
  • Assist field sales and service team and customers to interpret regulations and provide recommendations for corrective actions
