R&D Product Development Engineer Mechatronics & Control

Are you eager to lead the charge in pioneering optical products? Optotune is seeking enthusiastic and imaginative Product Development Engineers specializing in Mechatronics & Control to contribute to our team and shape the evolution of optical technology.
As a member of our product development team, you’ll be tasked with crafting cutting-edge products by seamlessly merging advanced actuator technologies with Optotune’s foundational adaptive optical components. Within this dynamic team environment, you’ll be instrumental in ushering the latest innovations in optical products from conceptualization to manufacturing reality.

Tasks

• Design, development and launch of new products with a focus on control, embedded software and electronics
• Lead and drive key-work packages in the area of dynamic control (open and closed loop, PID, learning, system identification)
• Feasibility studies and evaluation of new applications control schemes
• Product validation and reliability testing for prototypes and official product release
• Support of transfer to production
• Technical key customer support
• Collaboration with product managers, project leaders and stakeholders in mechanics/design, electronics, firmware and software

Requirements

• MSc/BSc degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, mechatronics or physics, preferably with a specialization in systems and control, experience with sensors and actuators of advantage
• Experience in product development, preferably in the area of high speed and high precision motion control products e.g. galvo mirror drivers
• Experience in programming (Python, Matlab); knowledge of embedded software development(C/C++)or hardware development is of advantage
• Creative and analytical thinking, proactive, well organized, autonomous, hands-on, open-minded for challenging ideas
• Good knowledge of English, and German of advantage
• Open to both Senior and Junior applicants. For applicants who have recently graduated (less than one year), please also provide your academic record as part of the application process
