R+I Concrete Technician – Full/Part Time

An exciting opportunity to join Ireland’s leading independent manufacturer of concrete and bituminous construction materials. We are currently hiring Research + Innovation Concrete Technicians to join our team at our construction materials research and testing facility in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare.

This junior position is suited to secondary school graduates, early careers applicants and individuals seeking to change careers. We are seeking enthusiastic individual who are driven to find out more about the sector and to progress themselves. Previous experience is not a requirement for this position and all successful applicants will be given full on the job training. Candidates will initially shadow experienced colleagues in order to gain the skills necessary to carry out the role.
We are open to both full and part-time applications for this position.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

You must be willing and able to carry out physical work associated with sampling and testing of bulky construction materials. Good written and record keeping abilities are required as well as being confident in using I.T. equipment and software.

A typical working day involves carrying out concrete trials. Small batches of concrete mixes are prepared in our testing facility
This is a very hands on and practical role so you should be willing to get stuck in
Preparation work for such trials include weighing out and measuring aggregates (sand + rock), cement and various other additions
Carrying out tests on the fresh and hardened concrete trials including workability, setting characteristics and making and testing strength specimens
Evaluating new raw materials
Recording and reporting observations
