JOB ROLE:

Medica Group is the market leader in the provision of teleradiology and managed radiology services to the UK and Ireland. We are now recruiting for a Radiation Protection Officer to join our growing Radiology team in Ireland.
Please note that this is a part-time role for up to 16 hours per week. However, we can offer a full-time position if you wish to combine it with clinical work at VHI360 Carrickmines.
This is a great opportunity for a Senior Radiographer with at least six years of experience post qualification who are looking for a new challenge in a clinically led, patient-focused organisation like Medica Ireland. Previous experience in a similar position is highly desirable.

As a Radiation Protection Officer, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of operational policies, protocols and guidelines to ensure all legislative requirements regarding Radiation Safety are met and adhered to.
  • Ensuring that Radiation Safety Procedures are implemented in the Department in accordance with relevant legislation and subsequent Local Rules.
  • Be an active member of relevant Radiation Safety Committees (RSC); setting the agenda and noting meeting minutes for the same.
  • Deal with and escalate any radiation safety issues that may arise in clinics.
  • Manage the radiation safety audit schedule and avoid potential radiation safety issues through robust implementation of the same.
  • Through communication with the Clinical Specialist/senior radiographers at each clinical site, ensure that all QA testing is carried out & documented in the correct time frame and in accordance the requirements of each individual test.
  • Act as a mentor to all clinic staff and lead by example and flag any changes in the relevant legislation that may warrant an adjustment to radiation safety protocols and / or policies
